Willow Pack Basket

$485.00

July 18-20 | 9 AM – 5 PM | Long Table Farm

There’s something deeply satisfying about making something with your own hands—especially something as beautiful, functional, and enduring as a willow pack basket. Unlike modern backpacks, a willow pack basket is built to last and connects you to centuries of craftsmanship.

In this three-day, hands-on workshop, you’ll learn to weave your own heirloom-quality pack basket using traditional European techniques. Whether you’re drawn to practical craftsmanship, natural materials, or the meditative rhythm of weaving, this course will immerse you in the art of working with willow from start to finish.

Jake Hartner has spent over a decade teaching ancestral skills, from basketry to pottery to backcountry survival. His passion for craftsmanship and connection to the land makes him an engaging and knowledgeable guide for this hands-on experience.

What You’ll Learn

  • Learn three traditional weaving techniques that can be applied to any basket style
  • Discover how to find and harvest your own willow, whether in the wild or on a farm
  • Weave and shape your own durable, handmade pack basket
  • Work with leather to craft sturdy straps for comfortable carrying
